CDA as an Approach to Analyze Language Ideologies in Supervisory Meetings

This qualitative case study research set out to look at the concepts of hegemony and power in supervisory meetings centered on idea linguistic ideologies. Two BS (English) supervisees their supervisors were chosen for as two studies recorded later transcribed analysis purpose. The adopted Halliday’s Systematic Functional Linguistics (SFL) data collection Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) analytical methodology empirical investigation well supervision procedures (1989; 2003). study's findings show how language contributed development relationships among participants. In meetings, was a significant issue along with educational experience knowledge that unequal relations terms style, B slightly different from A, due its flexibility. suggests fair democratic style can be beneficial flexible participants involved regardless background.
